Training Tools

These are the products that Hope and Fran use when they’re training their own dogs! You’ll be directed to their online shop, Golly Gear, on a separate page where you can purchase these items securely.

The Clicker is a wonderful training tool

i-Click Clicker. $2.50. A clicker is not mandatory. It’s just another tool. A clicker can be the consistent element that your voice sometimes is not – we don’t always say “Yes!” with the same intonation, volume or intensity. But a click always sounds the same. We like the i-Click because it fits nicely in the hand, it’s easy to click and the click itself is not too harsh or loud.

i-Click Wrist Coil

Wrist Coil for i-Click Clicker. $1.50. Sometimes it’s nice to have your i-Click handy without actually holding it in your hand. The Wrist Coil lets the i-Click dangle at your wrist – right there for when you need it. Expands to fit any size wrist – easy to put on, easy to take off.

Chicken Heart Treats - our training treat of choice.

Chicken Heart Treats. $7.95 for 2.5 ounces. Great training treats keep your dog’s attention where it should be – on you! We like Chicken Heart Treats because it’s a single ingredient, easy to break up, almost unlimited shelf life (not that they’ll stick around!) because they’re freeze-dried, and made in Wisconsin.

The leash our dog trainers recommend.

Latigo Leash, $21.95. We think leather is best for a training leash. It’s easy on the hands and just gets softer over time. While this one is narrow and light, it’s also very strong so it’s great for any dog.

The treat bag to hold training treats for your dog.

Adventure Treat Pouch, $6.95. This treat pouch is just the right size. It’s small enough not to get in your way when it’s clipped to your belt or a pocket, but it’s big enough to hold plenty of treats for your training session. It even has a drawstring that tucks out of the way.

The best tug toy: the Moople, $5.99. Tugging with your dog helps keep him engaged in the training and focused on you. The Moople is natural rubber, made in the USA, and long enough for both you and your dog to hang onto.
